Furniture Stores Deals And Steals Reopen For Liquidation

A cash-strapped furniture store chain has reopened after a judge ordered it to liquidate its inventory to pay back creditors.

The Fort Atkinson-based Furniture Deals and Steals closed in July, sparking hundreds of complaints from customers who didn't get items they had ordered. A judge chose a third-party company to reopen the stores for a liquidation sale, although consumer advocates warn customers looking for good deals.

The third-party company sent letters to customers who had ordered items, telling them the store had reopened for a limited time. The judge asked the firm to make good on those complaints, said the woman managing the Madison store's sale.

"They'd either get what they ordered or they'd reselect. We fulfilled all those orders," said Jill, the manager of the store who declined to use her last name. "There were definitely upset people, but they are really happy now."

Game Day Traffic Warnings Issued By WisDOT

The Wisconsin Department of Transportation Southwest Region in Madison is reminding Wisconsin Badgers fans to plan ahead for game day travel to Camp Randall for Thursday's game against UNLV.

While the interstate system in Dane, Jefferson and Rock County will be free of lane closures, heavy volumes of traffic and the potential for incidents could cause backups before and after games.

Four lanes of traffic are open through the I-94 work zone between Madison and Cottage Grove in Dane County. In addition, I-39/90 in Dane and Rock County, I-94 in Jefferson County, and the Beltline Highway will be free of lane closures on game days.

Lane restrictions are in place on US 151 near Beaver Dam in Columbia County due to construction and could cause potential slowdowns.

Highway service teams will be on-call in the I-94 work zone and on the Madison Beltline to assist stranded motorists and respond to incidents on Badger game days.
