Erpenbach Earns Fourth Term In Senate

He was first elected to represent the 27th Senate District in 1998 and on Tuesday Jon Erpenbach was reelected for a fourth time beating Republican Kurt Schlicht. Erpenbach earned 61 percent of the vote with two of 130 precincts still remaining.

Erpenbach started a professional stint in Madison as a radio personality, but turned to politics as a media relations and communications director in the capitol. He became the candidate himself in 1998 and after winning the seat, he hasn't turned back.

Grandview Commons Copps Store Still Alive

Roundy's Corporation said it is still interested in building a Copps grocery store in the Grandview Commons area on Madison's East Side, but, according to Madison alder Lauren Cnare, the "base parameters" of the proposal would retain the location and its approximate 60,000 square foot size.  It's that size which has generated a lot of neighborhood opposition. 

In an e-mail to constituents today, Cnare said that Roundy's has suggested a charrette which the alder described as an architectural term for a collaborative focused design workshop that aims at getting all ideas on the table through questions, answers and ideas.

Police Investigate A Bullet Hole Found In Elvehjem Neighborhood

A Woodvale Drive homeowner contacted the Madison Police Department on Oct. 19 after finding a bullet hole in a window of a room he uses for storage.

Police said the man remembered seeing the window undamaged a couple of weeks earlier.

The MPD took a similar bullet hole report from a different Woodvale Drive resident on Oct. 5. Police said it is possible the criminal damage to property cases are connected and occurred at nearly the same time.

I-39/90/94 Project Over Lien Road Completed

The reconstruction of the I-39/90/94 bridges over Lien Road on Madison's Far East Side has been completed, according to the Wisconsin Department of Transportation.

Officials said that all traffic lanes are open. Access ramps to the interstate from High Crossing Boulevard and Highway 30, which had been closed at various times throughout the project, are open.

The project began in March and reconstructed the bridges over Lien Road, added auxiliary safety lanes, and extended the taper lanes near exits to improve mobility.

Police: 'Register Robber' Resurfaces

A man, referred to by police as the "register robber", caught on tape by a pair of surveillance cameras is believed to be responsible for six recent robberies or thefts dating back to February of last year, according to the Madison Police Department.

Police said these are cases in which the man enters businesses and walks away with the cash register. The man in photos is described as a black man, and at least 6 feet tall with a heavy build.

The crimes have occurred on different days of the week between 9:30 p.m. and 11:45 p.m., according to police.

In one of the more recent cases, a victim said the man drove away in an older 90s model, white Dodge Neon. Other vehicles have been mentioned in previous cases, according to police. The man has struck in different areas of the city:
