Boys & Girls Club Of Dane County Receives National Award | Community Spirit
The Boys & Girls Club of Dane County has been awarded the Money Matters: Make It Count Innovation Award by the Boys & Girls Clubs of America.
The honor, awarded to only five clubs out of the nearly 4,000 clubs nationwide, recognizes the Boys & Girls Club of Dane County for its innovation in developing financial literacy programming for teens.
"I am so honored that our club has received this prestigious award," said Michael Johnson, CEO for BGCDC, in a news release. "We recognize that financial literacy and money management are incredibly important to our teens as they become productive and responsible adults, and we are proud to say that we have programming that leads them successfully along that path."
The Boys & Girls Club of Dane County has long been an innovator of financial literacy and money management programming, most notably with its STAR Credit Union, the only youth-chartered credit union and the only Boys & Girls Club-housed credit union in the nation.
The Innovation Award, which includes a grant to further programming, will be presented at BGCA's upcoming 2011 Regional Leadership Conferences.
