Paintball gun game leads to citations for 4 men, police say | Crime
Police said reports of men shooting at a vehicle Friday afternoon led to citations for four men allegedly carrying paintball guns.
Madison police Lt. Amy Schwartz said officers responded to a report of two men shooting what were described as assault rifles at a vehicle near Lien Road and North Thompson Drive at 2:07 p.m.
"Further investigation revealed that the guns were likely (paintball) guns and the suspect vehicle description was aired to area officers," Schwartz said.
An officer spotted the suspect vehicle on Park Street and made contact with four men inside.
Rayshawn Jackson, 20, Gerald Jones, 34, Marquese Murphy, 19 and Keith Binder, 23, were cooperative with police, the report said. Three paintball rifles and a paintball handgun were found.
"(The sergeant) on scene stated that one of the rifles was very realistic looking, resembling an AR rifle painted in (camouflage)," Schwartz said.
The men told officers they were involved in a consensual paintball gun game with another vehicle.
Jackson, Jones, Murphy and Binder were cited for misdemeanor disorderly conduct while armed and released, police said.
