Door-To-Door Sales Complaints On Rise On City's Far East Side | Crime

There has been an increase in the number of complaints over door-to-door solicitors on the city's far east side, according to the Madison Police Department's East District.

Solicitors in Madison must be licensed and should provide documentation if you request it, police said. 

If someone is unable to produce a license, residents should send them away and call 911, police said.

Officials said a 911 police call is appropriate when reporting current illegal or suspicious activity. 

Police said while some door-to-door sales people are peddling a legitimate service or product, police said they are aware of companies that target the Madison area that were not reputable and have applied aggressive sales tactics.
