The 13- to 1-4 year old Juniors team at East Madison little league won the state tournament this past weekend. Now, they're on their way to Fort Wayne, Ind. to compete in the Little League Internationals Regional Competition.
The team is just one tournament away from the Little League World Series. This is the first East Madison team to make it this far in 28 years.
It took them a lot of work to get there, and an even larger financial burden. The team set out Thursday to help ease that burden just a little bit. They were at the Hy-Vee on East Washington Street washing cars.
?We're trying to raise money because we have a lot of expenses with hotels, gas, food for the boys,? said Scott Schwendemann, a player?s dad. ?There are at least 13 boys making the trip, plus coaching staff and parents.?
The team figures they need at least $10,000 dollars to make the trip. You can help them by making donations at the website below.
